Tech Tips

This months Tech Tip is all about accessing your frequently viewed content on The PORT more quickly. Because every page in The PORT has a unique web address (or URL), you can "bookmark" any page in your Chrome browser. This allows you to go directly to the desired content, bypassing the Home screen menus.

Steps: Add the Standard Work landing page to the bookmark bar below the browser

1. Open The PORT. Using the Home page menu, hover over"Standard Work", click "Standard Work (SW)" in the drop down list. This will take you to the Standard Work landing page.

2. With the Standard Work landing page open, click to highlight the URL in the browser bar.

3. With the browser bar highlighted, click the star on the right end of the browser bar to select the URL as a bookmark. A dialogue box opens, click the "Done" button to save the bookmark.

4. Click the double arrow to open the bookmark list. Scroll to the bottom of the list to find the bookmark you just saved.

5. Click and drag the bookmark up to the bookmark bar and drop it there. You can now open the Standard Work landing page directly from this spot.

Featured Topic

This month's featured topic is the new process for submitting requests to the Policy Unit. All team members are encouraged to review the new standard work titled "Submitting Requests to the Policy Unit." Please review the important timelines and procedures within the standard work before submitting you next policy review request as there is a new form to use. The only request that doesn't require the new form is policy questions, team members are to continue to submit the policy questions as normal.

In the Spotlight

This month’s “In the Spotlight” topic features The PORT document owners.

The Policy Team owns and updates the following documents in the Policy & Procedures section of the PORT:

Intake, Locate, Paternity, Establishment, Debt, Compliance, Intergovernmental, Global, and Closure.

The Operations Administration owns and updates the majority of the documents in the Standard Work section of the PORT. Including Standard Work (SW), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Desk Aids, and Flowcharts. Existing SOPs, Desk Aids, and Flowcharts may be used as a basis for new SW if the information is still accurate.
